The JUG-GLE is Real: How we turned obstacles into opportunities in 2021

2021: A LESSON IN FACING OBSTACLES AND OVERCOMING HURDLES

2021: A YEAR OF JUG-GLING OBSTACLES AND OPPORTUNITIES

Here at JUGS, our goal is to take ‘thinking outside the box’ to a whole new level with each event we organise, and 2021 definitely put us to the test. Saying that our industry faced serious challenges is an understatement, but we cleared each hurdle that got in our way and came back even stronger. Now that the year’s coming to a close, we wanted to take a look back on 2021 and make a couple of toasts:

Cheers to bursting bubbles

We couldn’t have been happier to be waving goodbye to social bubbles and seeing more of our colleagues and our clients in person. This past year has seen us organise everything from in-person events to virtual quizzes to hybrid conferences, where we managed to bring the best of both the real and the virtual worlds together. Here’s a brief look at a few of the client events we’ve organised this year:

  • Malta Local Councils’ Association’s Tuk-Tuk iPad Treasure Hunt in GozoThis teambuilding event was one of our most popular summer events this year. Why? While our iPad Treasure Hunts and iChallenges used to be based in one location, our colourful tuk-tuks are now helping us go the extra mile (literally!), by transporting participants to activities all across our sister island and providing them with WiFi onboard to complete their iPad challenges.
  • The Malta Institute of Accountants’ Hybrid Biennial ConferenceThis year was the hybrid event’s time to shine, and offering participants the option to join an event in person or virtually has become key to organising successful conferences or networking events for many of our clients. This year, we worked closely with the Malta Institute of Accountants to determine what their conference’s objectives were, and created experiences which put both their virtual and live audiences on the same level, without going over budget.
  • Quizzed Collaborations with Malta DailyWhat better way is there to beat the indoor blues than a friendly quiz night? That’s why we collaborated with Malta Daily to bring QUIZZED to life during the semi-lockdown earlier this year: 90-minute themed virtual quizzes geared towards F.R.I.E.N.D.S and Eurovision fans, with fantastic cash prizes up for grabs.

Cheers to building a strong team

Just like the rest of the global events industry, this year required us to be creative and resilient amongst a lot of uncertainty and change, and we couldn’t have done it without our strong and innovative team. A special shoutout goes out to the new faces who joined the JUGS team in 2021, adding on to the enthusiasm and spirit of innovation within our logistical, operational, technical, event planning and team-building crews.

Without our team’s skills and expertise, we would not have been able to organise all the fun and engaging events which we managed to fit into just 12 months! You can read more about what we’ve been up to this year, from organising team-building events including our flippin’ awesome Virtual Cooking Challenge and action-packed Whacky Olympics, to providing audio-visual solutions for large-scale conferences and planning the most original events, on our website here.

Cheers to turning more obstacles into opportunities in 2022

Navigating 2021 was pretty similar to completing a winding obstacle course, but who doesn’t love a good one? Ask the four-legged participants of our obstacle course for pups, Ruff Mudder, which we organised with Tough Mudder Malta in aid of the Real Animal Rights Foundation! While we’re on the topic of Tough Mudder, we wanted to let you in on a little secret: things are going to get muddier in 2022, and we couldn’t be more excited about this massive event, so stay tuned!

Turning the challenges which you or your company might be facing into opportunities for success and growth is what we do best, and we’re looking forward to exploring new opportunities to work together in 2022. Until then, we wish you a safe and merry Christmas, and a happy new year!
